As you know, Bigfoot Networks finished the development of a new Lag Measuring software called LagMeter.
LagMeter is the fruits of some of the research going on at Bigfoot Networks, Inc.
www.bigfootnetworks.com
Bigfoot Networks primary focus, however, is on hardware devices that will give you an opportunity to FIGHT lag on your own terms. BigfootNetworks.com will let you know more about that going forward!
If you have problems with the software, though, please let us know, this first Beta version of LagMeter will certainly grow and get better if you report it's issues here.
Thanks,
Tytus

I haven't had any issues with this program... its pretty cool (although some more detailed statistics would be pretty rad). I would like to make one suggestion though... I was hoping that you could change the way that you submit your data. Instead of pressing the button all the time, perhaps when you initially install the program, you can ask whether or not you would like to submit your data, and if you choose to, then periodically data will be sent to your servers for analysis. I say this because I am interested in your project, and I want to submit my data, I just dont want to have to push that button all the time!

Can ya give us some examples of the type of products that you and Bigfoot Networks will be offering and possible sysem requirements? I am curious to see if there will be add-on cards, like PCI network cards, or stand alone products, such as switches, hubs ETC...
Furthermore, will the hardware need special support from ISPs? Hopefully this won't be the case... in my experience getting an ISP to provide special hardware or software support for a new tech is a pain in the ass if you are simply an end user who wants to take advantage of it.
It would be wonderful to see your tech, if it works as promised, as an integrated component in a motherboard setup, rather than a standalone card or other hardware product. A hardware combo specifically focused on making sure the two work together would benefit those of us stung by incompatibility issues in the past, such as the AMD & VIA crap a few years back.

Believe me, all my friends here at ELN will be among the first to know when Bigfoot is ready to release details about our products.
Suffice it to say, our first product will be the first ever Network Interface Card for gamers. And it will be powered by Lag and Latency Reduction (LLR) technology:

I'll be sure to post details here as more is announced.

your "lag meter" is some gliches
namely with any game that caps its frame rate
in this case ill use FFXI btw its made by Square Enix not Sega :p
since the game caps you at 30FPS your lag meter is saying that is laging you need to make it take frame rate in context

Thanks Elios!
We're working on a new version of LagMeter, and I'll definately keep that in mind!
One trick for your game is to pause FPS measurement during that game (in which case the tool will default to measuring CPU utilization instead as a "proxy")
Hope that helps.

no its FFXI there are others out there that do this too
but FFXI is by far worst ofender
well that can be an issue to did you take in account for Dual core?
i can skew my CPU usage easly just be pushing an ap to one core were itll peg at 50%
if i let windows just load balence then itll sit around the high 60s
but this is in a game thats prorgamed well FFXI isnt and my CPU is beraly touched
also thay cap the data rates to 56k speeds the most i have ever seen the game use was 2.someKbytes DS and maybe 1.some Kbytes US
so theres alot thing one cant realy control ^.~
but in this case with FFXI most PCs are grossly over powered for it and its an issue of how Sq-E set up there net work and trust me no one can make them change it

I agree that Lagmeter is overenthusiastic when it comes to "client lags".
It doesn't take image quality or type of game into account.
While I may easily get 100 fps in first person shooters, in games like Oblivion and World of Warcraft I turn the quality all the way up and average about 30-40 fps but things look beautiful.
So it's not lagged at all, it just says that because your measurements are absolute but some parts of this are subjective.
The other thing that would interest me more to find out is better knowledge of the things that trouble my network connection. I'm in Australia so have 400ms latency all the time. If Killer can knock 20ms off that then it helps, sure, but it's not by much.
Gamers willing to pay for a card like Killer are a niche market, but there are groups of us (like everyone playing in Australia) that have similar problems and if you could really help us by a more sizable amount then you'd find a far far higher percentage of the players here willing to shell out for that help. Basically our problems are far more severe than those the Americans face when it comes to lag and there is a limit to what Blizzard can do to fix things because some of it's simple distance.

| yeah ok u asked so ill let u know i am having issues running lagmeter. we have three separate systems with vista 64 for o.s and ive tried installing lagmeter on all of them . they install but with error (winpcap does not support vista 64. installation will be aborted) i have netframe work 1.1 installed but it still doesnt run. another question is why do u suggest installing netframework 1.1 why not version 3.5? would that make a difference ? i know theres issues with vista and netframwork 1.1 thats why microsoft recomends vista uses not to install it. it would be good to be able to use lagmeter with vista 64 and i hope theres a simple solution . it sounds like a very handy tool for us gamers to have. kind regards asiak.
