| Hello everyone, i'm new to this site but i'm a long time lag sufferer. And yes Tytus, lag has made me quit fps games i loved. I don't know how it started but i noticed it right away. I tried to put up with it and for years i did but finally just decided to call it quits once and for all. One game in particular was Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which is my favorite online game of all time. The constant lag just frustrated me and took away all the fun. I'm not the type of person who can't stand losing, its "how" i lose that makes me angry. When things are out of my control (i.e. lag induced BS) thats what irritates me the most. The lag became so severe that it really crippled my gameplay to the point where I appear nowhere near as good as I really am. What baffles me the most is that I still am not sure what the root of the lag is, although i suspect its just congestion and poor network routing to gaming servers. I've tried everything over the years to get rid of it: different computers, all of which far surpass the game recommendations, differents ISP's both cable and DSL, playing from various locations, different games and gaming servers, etc. None of that has helped. I still play fps games online, mainly Quake 4, but the lag is still with me. I think its very sad that the playing field in online games is so uneven now and only looks to be getting worse in the future. I am desperate to find something that will get rid of or at least drastically reduce this cursed lag. Thats how i came across the Killer NIC website. It definitely intrigued me and gave me a bit of hope...but forgive me if i remain skeptical, as i have tried everything under the sun short of moving to an area that offers FIOS to combat this constant lag. A product that claims to improve gaming performance online would merit spending $250 only if it truly did what it advertises. I've read many reviews, both positive and negative, but still I have not been persuaded to get my own Killer NIC. One thing that bothers me is that the Killer NIC is supposed to improve frame rates and lower pings, however, I lag badly regardless of how low my ping is or how high my frame rates are. My in-game fps counter can be high and ping 20-30ms and i still get horrible lag. Another reason is that the charts and graphs showing the test results of the Killer NIC display only minor improvements, hardly anything that justifies the price tag. So I ask you Tytus, what assurances do i have that this product will work for me? And if i am not pleased with the results can i return it for a full refund? I am very anxious to try it out, but it wouldn't be worth the risk for little or no gain in performance. P.S. ApachexRaider, can u please post an update on what you thought of the Killer NIC? Did it help your situation at all? I would like to hear from you

Depending on where you buy it, you can return the Killer NIC for a full refund. (Some places have different policies, so check first!)
Also, note: there is a new $179.99 version available everywhere as well.
As for what you can expect, definately smoother gameplay during the intense action sequences.. definately faster responsiveness.
But it will not end lag altogether (it is a first step...)
Sounds like you may be experiencing Server Lag... which Killer cannot fix.
What Killer can do is make your game play smoother even in the event of server lag...
So, I truly believe you (like so many other folks) will have a smoother experience.

Thanks for your prompt reply, Tytus. I did check out the K1 version which is $179.99, thats probably the one i'll get and test for myself. Is there any significant difference (besides price tag) between the two versions? I really hope it succeeds in making gameplay smoother like you say Anyhow, I will post my review here in this forum after extensive testing

Well, as promised the following is my summary of what i thought of the Killer NIC. I bought the K1 version ($179.99 +tax) of the Killer NIC last week and tried it out for a full eight days before deciding to return it. It did not work at all for me Fortunately it didn't cost me anything since i was able to get a full refund. I am above all very disappointed in the product as it did not make gameplay smoother at all. On the contrary, it increased lag a little and made ordinary web browsing very slow. I cannot recommend this product. If you lag like I do then it is all server side related and this card will not help you. It has become clear that the only way to get rid of network lag is to move to an area that offers stable and reliable high-speed internet, specifically one that doesn't require you to share bandwidth with others. For the rest of us, we are doomed to an increasingly laggy gaming experience.

binlaggin,
if you call 8 days extensive testing, without contacting us at all to see why you didn't see improvement... i wish you would have given me/us a shot at resolving it.
I bet you have a real problem with an anti-virus program or firewall that is slowing you down, and you didn't give me a chance to fix it for you.
This is usually the case when Killer doesn't appear to help/slows browsing...
usuall a program is running in the background that Killer makes it crystal clear is slowing you down by enhancing it.
Since I can't go back in time and intervene.... here is a link to the top tips that I bet were causing Killer to appear to slow you down:
http://www.endlagnow.org/ELN/TakeAction_TopTips.aspx
In reality, Killer speeds everything up (including the offending programs), which often exacerbates the issue.
Once the offender is identified, most of our customers see HUGE improvements in Lag Reduction
(as measured by this tool, or in-game ping, fraps etc)
http://www.endlagnow.org/ELN/TakeAction_LagMeter.aspx
At any rate, i'm sorry we couldn't get you fixed.
Fortunately, if Server Side Lag is the problem, then we will soon be fixing that too:

| I know eight days wasn't really long enough to test out the Killer NIC thoroughly but I felt that I should've at least seen some improvement in gaming right off the bat. I had my Windows XP firewall off the entire time i had the Killer NIC installed on my pc and i don't have any third-party antivirus software or firewall running in the background. I tried it connected to my gaming router and hooked up straight into my cable modem with no difference in performance. I tried tweaking the values in the advanced menu the best i knew how to after trying the default settings, but again there was no discernable gain in performance. Despite not having a successful outcome with the Killer NIC i am glad that there are people like you, Tytus, dedicated to fighting lag. It gives me hope that someday (hopefully very soon) lag will be a thing of the past, permanently. Gaming online should be fun, but lag ruins that experience and makes it infuriating and painful to play the games you love. BTW, thanks for posting those links. The article on how your company plans on dealing with server-side lag is especially interesting. I hope LLR2 technology can deliver on its promise.

| Lag is a pathway to many abilities to which some consider to be unnatural. Man i can't play games like Warrock, Counter Strike or like Jedi Academy cause the games just lag like hell on DSL. I've quit quite a few games due to lag one example being STRONGHOLD 2. I waited so long for that game to come out. I bought it. and i threw it away within the week cause the lag was just horrible. Sad thing is some people have the uber computers that are like 512mb grafix cards. 4gb of RAM, the WORks! There are still people like me who cherish every bit of upgrade they get. It was a heyday when i got my ATI RADEON 9250 256mb. I jumped out of my pants when i got LAN. I wish u can fight lag even if u have like a sucky PCI-B slot with Celereon D like me
I shart on lag.
