TYTUS FROM GDC

H
ello from GDC. It was great meeting with old friends, and meeting new ones. Obviously GDC is packed full of Game Developers, and I spent my time talking to them about, of course, Lag.

Some of the interesting news from GDC:

Bigfoot Networks LLR announcement [Lag and Latency Reduction] (you saw it here too!)

Sony’s Online PS3 Services Basic will be free.

Aegia’s PhysX processor game support announcement

Windows VISTA delayed

Of those, of course, the LLR announcement is very big because Bigfoot has let it be public, the name of the technology that is designed to fight Lag. Also we at Bigfoot spent an enormous amount of time explaining how LLR works, and what it does. Needless to say the interest level is high, and everyone can barely wait for more hard data and specs! (we can’t wait to share it either!)

One funny thing from GDC, most of the reporters and game developers we were talking to, were really excited to talk to us, because they were tired of talking about Aegia and NVIDIA... and certainly not happy about VISTA.

As a gamer though, the Sony announcement is really neat, because maybe, just maybe, online gaming on a console might take off... my hopes are not very high. I still prefer a keyboard, and the ability to upgrade! But not having to pay to play my Sony games online, might just compel me to give it a try. Now, if I can only get Sony to put LLR into PS3!!!!

Tytus.
